In the summer of 2015, I saw probably one of the best jazz concerts I have ever seen. Every year until 2018, the Providencia International Jazz Festival was held, with 3 nights of jazz with national and international artists. That year I was lucky to see the Chilean saxophonist based in New York, Melissa Aldana, according to many (including me) one of the best current saxophonists in the world. Melissa born in 1988, daughter of the important teacher and saxophonist Marcos Aldana, starts to play saxophone at 5 years old. Already young and very talented, she participes with different national jazz ensembles. Melissa went to study in the United States in 2007 at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she began to rub shoulders and play with established jazz such as George Garzone, George Coleman and Francisco Mela, among others.
